MTI The Chrysler Bldg 20th FL

New York, NY  10174

The Ruth Fernandez Family Residence is a temporary place where homeless people displaced due to a fire and other emergencies are relocated.

They are located at 760 Fox St., Bronx, NY 10455. Currently, there are two buildings housing approximately 76 families. The executive director is Arsenio Gonzalez.

“They’re going to start a pilot program to interact with the children because he said they’re the ones that are most impacted by their living situation and losing everything they own in a fire. Most of the parents work and they’re going to have an after school program for the kids to attend until the parents get home. The place is situated in a very bad neighborhood but people are people.” states Millie.

“I told Arsenio my goal was to drop things off every month and he said that’s fine. He said even in the summertime I can bring items so we can have them in storage for the winter months. He said the heating system is not the best because they are living in old buildings so even afghans would be welcomed. I’ve gotten out the word in my local area about bringing the coats to the shelter.”

BEAR MAKERS/BEARS NEEDED FOR 2010!

logodontbeafraid.jpg

"Don't be afraid....I am here!" Teddy Bears

Alaine from New York our Love's coordinator with many teddy bears for the children made by group members.

Alaine is a grandmother who is fighting for her rights!

Children of domestic violence and other family separation times are traumatic.  What does a child have for comfort when the only family and home they know is drastically taken from them?  A friend to hug and to hold during the toughest times.

A Child Protection Service in Long Island, New York is working with our Love's Many Cloths gal, Alaine Kaidash to provide "Don't be afraid....I am here!"  teddy bears for children of all ages that are taken into custody for foster care or other temporary "support for safety" situations.  The teddy bears will be transported in the car trunks of certified CPS and DSS workers to be given to children during separation moments. This will be an ongoing need and it can lead into a nation-wide delivery opportunity for all crafters.

Commissioner of Nassau County, Dr. Imhof, and Department of Human Services staff  with Alaine with the first delivery of 100 teddy bears on Sept.18th, 2009

Over 200 bears have now been delivered!

        Adoption bears

The first award presented to Alaine on October 22, 2009 by the commissioner Dr. Imhof at a dinner for Foster Care families. The assistant is holding several teddy bears that Alaine brought to be presented to children next month (November) at an Adoption Ceremony where the new families will be legally united together.

Immediate teddy bear needs are RIGHT NOW!  Case workers are waiting for teddy bears for their trunks ASAP!

Hats and Blankets for Children of the Orphanage

Many children of China are placed in orphanage care.  The old ritual of only one child per family and all girls are orphans still is the norm in China today.  Orphanages are very full with 4-5 children per one bed and the conditions are poor.  Blankets are needed and hats for all ages.

Project director, Karen in China

Karen Bradley sends to China every year.  She has two adorable children that are adopted from China.  She knows first hand the conditions of the orphanages and has vowed to help them.  Her main business is in the "scrubs" industry in the New York area.  She uses the scraps from the designing and making of medical scrubs for quilted blankets that she sends to China to the orphanages. In the past several years, she has taken up to 10,000 new quilts to the children.

Hats

A big need!!

***Special Request***

A request for hats for newborns (preemie too) up to 5 yrs. from several orphanages!

"thanks to Bev's online group for sending 100 hats," challenges Karen.

"Send one...send many!" Karen assures, "I have a home for them all!"

All ages are in need from Newborn to Teen.

All colors and styles are wonderful and very much appreciated.  Boys and girls all use the same colors in China.  No separation in that manner.

If you would like to help, send your handmade or new bought gifts to:

Our first year of giving 2008

Love's Gal, Debi Peterson from Leavenworth, WA collected scarves that were given to the Solomon's Porch, a teen outreach center.  Desiree, director of Solomon's Porch, helps in sorting and packaging for the teens that will soon be given the heartfelt warmth from many Love's crafters from all over the United States. This photo was taken by Chelsea, a local reporter of the Leavenworth Echo.

"Helping those in need was all I wanted to do!  I created "Love's Many Cloths" on November 10th 2005."

"I was able to meet many other heartfelt crafters that also have the same dream.  Together we put smiles on the faces of many and hope in the hearts of those in despair.

We make homemade facecloths for shelters of the homeless, battered or displaced, and transitioned.

Our cloths are also loved by the elderly in hospices and our patients at a South Georgia hospital.  In the past 2+ years we have grown in many ways. "

"Cuddles" for Pets by Love's Many Cloths

For the pets-to-be in many animal shelters and rescue missions across the United States, we make special pet blankets.  These blankets are made in various sizes and textures.  When the animals leave the shelters, they have their own "comfort" to take with them to their new homes.

Meet Molly the Pony

Tails of Hope Foundation will be with Molly in the afternoon and participating in the private therapy session at Walter Reed Army Hospital for the wounded military.

Molly will be wearing her blanket commissioned by Tails of Hope’s through our Blanketed with LoveSM program.  The squares were donated by contributing yarn crafters from 3 countries and 15 US States.  The gorgeous blanket was designed and finalized by Loves Many Clothes, Dana Jonsgaard , MN.  PS:  There is a smiley face on the blanket as Molly has one on her prosthesis and has a smiley face stamp for her autographs.

Tails of Hope Foundation and TPPC.TV will be sponsoring Molly for therapy visits at Walter Reed Army Hospital (Tuesday afternoon) and the Wounded Warrior therapy riding program (Thursday afternoon) to meet with the wounded military personnel.

Molly’s situation is very rare as amputations are not usually successful with equines, thankfully hers was.  There are only 3 amputees equine that we know of world-wide and she is the only one we know of who is a therapy animal.  Everyone loves her and she is great with abused/sick/disabled kids, the elderly, and wounded military.

"I was very honored to be able to meet Molly and Kaye! Seeing Molly with our blanket was a dream come true!"  Dana
